An endless desire for exploration.
Wildlife and underwater photographer William Drumm has always loved the ocean and the incredible creatures that inhabit it. Motivated by a curiosity to uncover what lies beneath the surface and capture nature’s beauty on film, we dive into our latest installment of A Promaster’s Journal with a deeper look at the Citizen Promaster Aqualand.
We shot this episode on the southern end of the Baja Peninsula with the help of local fixers - wildlife photographers we met through Bill. The goal was to capture footage of Bill photographing the Mobula rays - a species of ray that schools by the thousands in the Bay of Cortez. One of our fixers Erick (who is featured in the film) gave us the requisite pre-nature shoot warning, “Don’t expect too much. Wild animals are unpredictable.”
Unpredictable indeed. What we ended up witnessing - and capturing on film and stills - was more than we could have hoped for in our wildest dreams.
